The Swedish Coast Guard participated in the Swedish Armed Forces' naval exercise Vår 24 along the west coast and in Västerhavet from March 13 to March 20. The Coast Guard was involved with the combination vessel KBV 032 from Lysekil, aiming to develop cooperation with the Navy. According to William Govik, station chief in Lysekil, the exercise focused on better understanding each other from various operational perspectives, as the Coast Guard can support the Armed Forces if Sweden's preparedness level increases.
Within the total defense framework, the Coast Guard performs tasks primarily in maritime rescue and maintaining order at sea. Govik stated that the Coast Guard is the civilian actor with the greatest capability above, on, and below the water surface, and that there is much to learn from the Armed Forces and vice versa, working together for a safe and secure Sweden.
